Church Knocker c. 1788
The knocker and woodwork in the shape of a cross intrigued me.

This is almost 30 minutes of stacked 30 second images that were used to create this startrail image of the famous Kirkjufell mountain in western Iceland.
Another stop along our return to the guesthouse from Hofn. Just outside of the Skaftafell Glacier.
Traveling back from Hofn, we stopped 3 times on the 2 hour ride back. This image overlooks the other glacier lagoon (frozen) of Fjallsárlón. The entire scene is being lit by a 3/4 moon.

From Night Images
In Search of Aurora
Our crew headed eastward to try and get away from encroaching clouds. No luck. We got some aurora hues but that was it.
Looking northeast, just south of the fishing town of Stykkishólmur Iceland. Lights of the city were bouncing off the clouds from one direction, moonlight coming from the other, and the aurora in between.
Tectonic rift of Thingvellir National Park, Iceland. Steam vents off in the distance.
Moonlit Southern Iceland
Our first night in Iceland. We were hoping for auroras but got a near full moon to light up the landscape. Just west of Vik Iceland.
We stopped for lunch at the N1 in Borgarnes before heading to Barnafoss waterfall to the northeast.

Photographying Iceland in the dead of winter can be a contrast challenge.
Sequence of 8 quick shots of the Strokkur Geysir, Iceland
Even 1/1000 sec is not fast enough to capture the explosive break through the water bubble.
After the geysir blows, all of the surrounding water returns back to the geysir.

It's going to pop
Strokkur Geysir in Iceland just before the air bursts through the water.
The great thing about Icelandic horeses is that they're overly curious. I walked up to the fence line and they started to wander over to me.
What's a little snow among friends
On our tour of Iceland, we visited an original Turf House. In the pasture next to the exhibit were a band of Icelandic horses waiting out the snow storm.
